Day 18/ 31 days of #toddlerartinvitations

Invitation to create a watercolour resist painting using oil pastels. I brought out the good stuff today aka Micador’s 36 disc watercolour palette as the toddler was going to handmake a birthday gift for someone very special turning 60 tomorrow.

For the invitation, I drew the chinese character that represents grandma (which is what the toddler calls her) on a piece of paper using white oil pastel and the toddler’s job was to paint over it to reveal it.

After the gift was completed, the toddler wanted to paint some more so we took turns to draw ‘secret’ shapes on small pieces of paper, again using a white oil pastel and the other person would paint over it with the watercolours to reveal the secret shape. The toddler said she drew “round” 😍.

When she’s older (i.e able to read), I would love to write some secret love notes to her, simple things like “You are a champion” and have her paint over them to reveal the message and have her write little notes back to me too ☺
