Day 2/31 days of #toddlerartinvitations

Invitation to make a collage with tissue paper, coloured matchsticks, sequins and googly eyes. The toddler was so fascinated with the different sized and different coloured googly eyes and attempted to sort them small “minum” and big 😆. I on the other hand loved the fact that the colour of the tissue paper bleeds onto the paper when it combines with the glue. But truth be told, her favourite part of this invitation was squeezing the bottle of glue.

She literally could have sat there and done just that all day long if I didn’t remind her to stick things on the wet glue (which gives me an idea for another invitation to create in a couple of days). Not that I mind it though because squeezing that bottle was a lot of fine motor work for little fingers.

We did this activity yesterday morning when bubs was napping and daddy was home so I was actually able to sit down and give her some suggestions of things she could do. I usually leave her to create without any direction or intervention but on this occasion, I wanted to show her how she could tear the tissue paper and scrunch it up if she wanted to. More sneaky fine motor practice there. After she got the hang of it, I gave her all autonomy to create whatever she wanted and she went back to squeezing copious amounts of glue 😂

p.s. thank you hubs for taking the photo of us working together on your own initiative! He doesn’t do this often so I have to give credit where it’s due and perhaps it’ll happen more often hahaha 😆😉
