Day 21/ 31 days of #toddlerartinvitations
Firstly, blessed Christmas ❤💚!! I hope everyone had a love-filled day yesterday and had plenty of cuddles with loved ones.
Continuing on our toddler art series, this is another invitation to create a second layer of art over a pre-existing artwork like in day 19.
Back in June, the toddler had painted a recycled corrugated cardboard with her hands and different tools for a messy art challenge. The two painted cardboards have just been sitting and looking pretty as well as a little forgotten in the back room and I decided to offer it as a base for the toddler to create with coloured glue from a squeezy bottle and an assortment of GLITTER after her nap this afternoon. I scored stacks of them from Riot Art & Craft’s clearance sale of Christmas products yesterday and I thought this would be an awesome way to use them.
Such a good idea to do this on the tuff tray or any large tray you might have because there was glitter everywhere. I know glitter is a very poloraising medium because of its ability to attach itself onto surfaces and stay on them for ages but I’m on the spectrum of people who used to be covered in glitter daily as a kinder teacher so you’ll know it doesn’t faze me one bit.
Neither did it seem to bother my mess-loving toddler apparently 😂. She had a ball squeezing the coloured glue onto the cardboard, then shaking/ pouring the glitter out pretty much everywhere. I must admit, this is probably not for the faint-hearted in terms of mess containment, which is why I’m so thankful we had our tuff tray today.
After the toddler was finished with the glue and glitter on the cardboard, she went on to use the glitter remnants on the tray as a canvas for drawing on and I’m so glad I managed to catch a video of her here telling me how she’d drawn a slide 😍.
So I’d really love to know, glitter yay or nay?! Do you embrace or avoid it like a plague?!
