Day 24/ 31 days of #toddlerartinvitations
Invitation to create on contact paper with glitter, googly eyes and assorted sequins. After my toddler had a ball creating with glitter a couple of days ago for day 21, I came up with a different invitation for her to create with glitter again 😆. Thank you tuff tray for saving the day once again in terms of containing mess 👌🏼🙌🏼.
When I set this up for her, I was expecting her to use all the materials equally. But of course my toddler being the toddler that she is with her own ideas, she pretty much rejected one of the items almost entirely – the assorted sequins.
She loved using the googly eyes and saying it over and over again (thought it was a funny word 😆😂) and of course LOOOVED the glitter. She experimented with pinching and sprinkling the glitter over the contact paper, dabbing a finger in the glitter and making glitter fingerprints, and once she discovered the effect she made by pouring the entire palette over the contact paper, it became the preferred method (see video here).
But even with my repeated suggestions of using the assorted sequins and pointing out the different shapes and objects there were in the container, she flatly refused to use them with the exception of one tiny little butterfly. I thought it was perhaps just an attempt to humour me.
But when she was finished, she stood up to survey her work and all she said was “Look at the butterfly”. I looked and to be honest it took me a while to find it. I wonder if you can spot it amongst all that glitter. It’s just that ONE, but somehow I think she was more intentional about it than I originally thought. When I finally spotted it, I thought her decision to use just that one couldn’t be more perfect 🙂
